Rainy Days . . . Finally

Finally, a string of cloudy, rainy days has graced Chicagoland. It’s about time. For some reason, this summer seemed longer, warmer, and more humid, than in the past. It was probably not very different than any other summer, but it just seems that way. No doubt my perception is skewed because of the pandemic and the man y restrictions it has brought about. In any case, I’ve never been a warm weather person, so I welcome the onset of cooler days.

In stark contrast to the weather here in the midwest, (at the time of this writing) almost the entire american west coast is on fire. And once again the climate change debate ensues. For some reason I’m always surprised to find out (or rediscover, I suppose) the degree of stupidity and foolishness of climate change deniers. That so many people (Americans) deny hard facts and empirical evidence and instead abide by the uninformed, conniving, perverse ramblings of a few select morons is at once both embarrassing and frightening. It’s ignorance, plain and simple.

The Cubs cling to first place in the NL Central. Like all the other goofy stuff that’s gone on in 2020, they will probably get knocked off that pedestal once they face a formidable team. The only real competition they’ve had this year are the Cardinals. But it would be just like the Cubs to go all the way this year . . .Covid World Series Champions.

And today is the 19th anniversary of 9/11. Nineteen years and we’re still fighting in Iran and Afghanistan. “Mission Accomplished” my ass.
